But AI, radiance and dialog modules took a step backward. But I think it fell short for me because Oblivion was such a powerfully simulated world to experience in 2006, and by 2011 I expected most of the weaknesses of Bethesda's quantity-first, seed-style design to be addressed, particularly with NPCs. Skyrim's world is exquisite, and especially immersive with the mountainous terrain and creative dungeons. Shivering Isles, particularly, was a really fun journey. I played Oblivion an order of magnitude more than Skyrim, downloaded most of the DLC, and have a lot more fond memories.
